Bizarre Beauty Rituals

You normally won’t find fish or bird droppings at the beauty section of big department stores. But these bizarre cosmetic ingredients have been used by Japanese women for ages to maintain their smooth, wrinkle-free complexion.

Now, trendy, high-end spas are offering these ancient remedies to both men and women who are willing to try anything in the name of beauty. These geisha-inspired treatments are the latest craze and are taking the beauty industry by storm.

“For several centuries, Japanese women made their own skincare formulas at home with natural food products – and the trade secrets of their female ancestors were passed from generation to generation. It is these ancient beauty rituals – and renewed interest in the once denigrated geisha – that have been resurrected in Japan and sold around the world,” said Stephanie Rafanelli in the Daily Mail.

For starters, how about a goldfish pedicure? In this procedure, hundreds of miniature fish eat your feet right before your very eyes! But don’t panic. We’re not talking about piranhas here. The treatment uses doctor fish or gara rufa that nibble away dead, scaly skin in a matter of minutes.

“Several beauty salons have picked up on this trend, which has long been used in Turkey, China, and Japan. The fish feed on dead skin, leaving the healthy, new skin exposed. The result is supposed to be soft smooth skin without a hint of roughness,” explained Amy White in AssociatedContent.com.

“Your most unpleasant flaky bits will be swiftly nibbled away in 15 unbearably ticklish minutes to reveal baby, clean feet. So the only thing you’re likely to die of is laughing,” Rafanelli added.

If you have a strong stomach, get a nightingale-dropping facial at Hari’s Salon in London. This 90-minute treatment will help lighten and brighten dull skin. The bird’s feces were used by early geishas and Kabuki actors to remove their thick make-up. Prior to applying, the droppings were dried in the sun. This has been replaced by ultraviolet light to sterilize them. At £135 it’s one of the most expensive facials but customers swear it leaves the skin shiny, clean, and fresh looking for the rest of the week. Plus it’s odor-free!

“Nightingale droppings contain an enzyme called guanine which bleaches and heals the skin, which makes it such an effective facial ingredient. This amino acid’s benefits have long been known by Japanese geishas and Kabuki actors. Even monks have used these droppings to condition their exposed scalps,” revealed White.

Believing that beauty is not only skin deep, the Takano Yuri Beauty Clinic in Japan is known for its Etiquette Up treatment that supposedly purifies the body. This weird beauty regimen promises to detoxify your internal organs and make your feces odor-free. Your bathroom visits will be more pleasant afterwards. Did I mention this procedure is also good for the skin and eliminates wrinkles? Indeed, Japan is the place to be for pretty feces – I mean faces!

For the less adventurous types who don’t want to go far in their pursuit of beauty, they can find comfort in the popular wrinkle-fighter Dermaxin. This unique cream has powerful anti-aging ingredients that moisturize the skin, leaving it smooth, soft, and healthy.

Beauty Tips – Remove All Unwanted Hair

If truth be told, excessive hair growth on the face and extremities is niggling at times. Perceiving some of the hairs penetrate your T-shirts and jackets is more weird and disgusting. Well, technology is so advanced to offer a multiplicity of options from temporary hair removal to permanent hair removal.

Laser hair removal and electrolysis is the newest method to treat unwanted hair. These techniques are quite hassle-free and the course of action would not precede more than a day. Electrolysis utilizes an uncontaminated needle that is popped into every hair follicle. A minute electrical current is later distributed to the bottom of the follicle to demolish the hair augmentation cells.

Electrolysis is to be accomplished with much care and the result is a glowing hair-free skin. Diode laser hair removal is yet another hair-removal technique, widespread these days with much applause. There is totally no pain, and this way of hair removal can be carried out in a beauty salon also.

On the other hand, many people prefer temporary hair removal, as it is less expensive. Other than that, electrolysis and laser hair removal comes under the treatment mode. You can satisfy yourself by waxing your arms and legs to attend a party. Shaving and tweezing can also be done if you are ready to bear some pain.

A number of people make use of depilatory creams to dispose of unnecessary body hair. This manner is painless however not an enduring way out for unwanted hair. Experts also recommend not using such creams as they can damage the skin even leading to serious skin diseases.

Considering permanent hair removal methods is quite practical, if you are ready to spend a large amount. Though the laser treatment takes minimum time, follow-up sessions before and after the treatment can be toilsome.

Anal Bleaching – The New Craze

Anal bleaching has become the new in-thing among porn stars, strippers, celebrities, and some free-thinking neighbors. I guess I’m totally out of it, because I haven’t heard of this personal care tid-bit. Even some feminine magazines have been publishing information about this technique.

What is Anal Bleaching?

If you’ve been leading a sheltered life as, apparently, I have been, anal bleaching is described as a cosmetic technique in the dictionary. To be exact: “Whereby strong bleaching solutions like hydroquinones are used to lighten the anal area. This procedure is employed by strippers, body builders, actors and actresses. Seems over time, the butticular area becomes darker (some say it’s due to dark foods like coffee, others speculate it’s due to staining from the bilirubin content in feces). Either way, those who aspire to wear butt floss as swim wear or do pole dancing seem to feel a lighter sphincter will improve their image.”

Why is the Anal Discoloration Offensive?

The idea that anal color is offensive is a personal opinion, I guess. Personally, I haven’t really thought much about it, nor do I tend to view the internal anal area. However, some express the bleaching of this area is a health and hygiene issue, while others promote it as a cosmetic beauty treatment. Researchers propose anal staining is due to excessive coffee and soda drinking, and poor hygiene. So, apparently, after years of bad eating habits and poor wiping, the anus skin becomes darker in color.

So, the obvious solution is to bleach the dark skin similar to the way dentists bleach out stains on our teeth. The difference is in the compound used to make the bleach. Anal bleach is composed of a peroxide-based cleansing gel, and wiped away with tissue that mirrors baby wipes, but with a much larger price tag.

On the Cosmetic Beauty Treatment Side:

The general synopsis for anal discoloration is genetic. Some people have more pigment in that area of their bodies than others. In comparison, some people have dark colored nipples and labia, while others light.

Who Does Anal Bleaches?

Many upscale salons and spas offer this treatment. Of course, you need to know where to look and have half your annual salary in hand to make your butt to look like a porn stars.

If you want or need to be a bit more thrifty with your hard earned money, you can get anal bleaching supplies to do the procedure in your own home! Search on Google and you’ll find many businesses that offer this type of commodities.

Personal Thoughts on Anal Bleaching …

Now, I may be old fashioned, but bending over or squatting on a mirror to look between my ass cheeks is not high on my ‘to do’ list. In fact, I doubt it would even rank anywhere in my top 10 things to do before I die! Sure, I bathe, scrub, powder and lotion my body, but bleaching? No thank you, the color of my anus is what it is, and that’s the end of that tune.

It’s highly doubtful that photos of my anus will be displayed as artwork on the walls of my hacienda. If my anus color had a negative affect on my sex life or partner, I think it would be time to dump the bum to the curb.

The Unabridged Beauty Doctrine Revealed!

Everything how to’s on surefire ways on beautifying yourself.

That is perhaps ranked as the third most-researched topic on every search engine in the internet. Have you been wondering so yourself what is this craze on being beautiful and all? Well. I don’t know. I think that the obvious reason is that being beautiful is automatically feeling good. I mean, who wouldn’t feel so, right? Being flattered and adored everyday is like a lifetime vitamin.

Having lived in the planet for some quite time now, I noticed that people in general deem beautiful people as having a beautiful face (a flawless one at that), a smashing body figure and an incredible attitude (meaning, she carries herself well). And since what you immediately notice on a person is the skin, (because well, you’re practically covered with it), we’re gonna zero in on this part.

Today, what we generally regard as flawless skin is a smooth and… well… hairless skin. You know that right? Of course the definition of a beautiful skin is essentially relative but I know, and you know as well, that no matter what each of our preference is, (e.g. “I want a hairy woman for a lifetime partner and I don’t really give a damn if everyone adores those plain hairless ones!”/”And why are you having those removed young woman?! Those hairs are what make you Hungarian!”), generally, there is this stigma that a hairless woman is way much too pretty than those with ‘furs’. I don’t want to hurt any feelings here alright? What can we do? Reality bites!

So now I am going to introduce a hair removal method which has been considered as not just a permanent method but an effective one at that!

Hear ye! Hear ye! Behold electrolysis hair removal! I know that this is familiar to others, but what I want to do now is not just familiarize with this but to make you fully aware of it.

Hair electrolysis is considered one of the permanent methods of hair removal. The process involves the insertion of a very fine needle into the hair follicle, wherein electricity is actually transported inside, so as to damage/destroy what causes hair growth. So what happens is that there is no hair regrowth anymore! The downside of this is that it is quite expensive. However expensive this is though, NEVER ever engage in home electrolysis for not only is it very difficult to do it yourself, it is VERY dangerous as well. This will definitely ruin your way to a beautiful skin = beautiful you! So always bear that in mind okay.

In essence, if you’re gonna think about it, no matter how ‘ugly’ your figure is, as long as you have the flawless skin, you’re off to the beauty world. And having a beautiful skin gives you the confidence you never really had before right? So basically, what I am just trying to say is that as long as you have that smooth and flawless (’furless’) skin, you’re up for a good start. That’s basically the very core on how to beautify your self! And now you’re on your own!

The Latest Diet Craze and Our Diet History

It seems like every other week we are hearing about the “latest” diet. Standing in line at the grocery store, you can read the front cover of the magazines, the latest diet craze! Will the latest diet craze work for us?

Most popular diets follow trends. In the early 90’s, we were celebrating the holy grail of diets…fat makes you fat! Susan Powter was our guru. Showing us a post pregnant plump woman on a couch, spreading to cover her whole couch. The “new” Susan was a lean, buzz cut “super woman” who was in control!

We made a mad dash to the grocery store to purchase all of the fat free products we can find. this was going to work! It only made sense…fat=fat, right?

But by the late 90’s we all got fatter! Fat didn’t necessarily equal fat, plus we all missed the wonder taste and feeling of being full that fat offered. We experienced fat withdrawal.

Someone had to come along and give us the permission to eat fat and still be thin. So in the 90’s we crowned Dr Atkins as our new king of weight loss! We had to admit, he wasn’t pretty, he didn’t have the same charisma as our fat stomping guru Susan Powter, and he didn’t look very healthy and lean. But he had a doctors degree so that compensated for the guru that we wanted to emulate.

Dr Atkins message was so refreshing, we can eat fat! Not just a little fat, a whole bunch of fat. Not only was our taste buds dancing, we were dropping pounds rapidly! This was it!

Then the agonizing truth came out, too much fat will over tax your kidneys and contribute to other diseases. also, everyone was gaining the weight back and adding more on top of it after we stopped the program and ate more carbs. What do we do now? Doesn’t anyone have the answer?

After our drastic, extreme, quick weight loss fixes in the 80’s and 90’s, we needed the truth. It didn’t matter how bad it hurt. In 2000’s we learned a more toned down balanced approach. We actually went full circle and went back to the tried and true, monitoring our calorie intact, eating primarily fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, and lean meat. We have now differentiate between good fats and bad fats, good carbs and bad carbs, good sugar and bad sugar, and eating smaller more frequent mini meals. We find ourselves more educated about healthy eating, enjoying good food, and losing weight! Most of all we can live on this game plan for wellness and weight loss. It is something we can follow for life.

Even the latest celebrity diet found in the tabloid magazines, are not as drastic and are still enveloped in good healthy foods. It is up to our palate to pick how we chose to reduce our size by eating.

The ‘Hairless’ Craze – Grooming and Aesthetics For Men and Women

Wherever one goes, they are there. They are simply everywhere.

I am referring to hair removal products of all kinds. What is it with the hairless anyway? you ask. There is a long discussion about that friend, but if you really want to know. I’ll tell you what I know, based from friends who actually go hairless all the way.

If I am first gonna be radical about this, I’ll tell you that maybe, the reason why people need (that is synonymous with WANT nowadays), to be hairless is because that is what practically everyone considers beautiful. And who doesn’t want to be beautiful right? I know. Beauty is supposed to be relative but the society you are in is way too powerful than relativity, so there. Going back to the present…

Most often than not, people shave, wax, undergo various methods of hair removal, to get rid of all those hairs, and please other people’s eyes. Of course there are other reasons as well, like that of grooming wherein both women and men get to undergo procedures to remove the hairs of their chosen body part, to be ‘clean’. There are people who go hairless for aesthetic purposes but others do this for grooming as well. When we talk about grooming involving hair removal, body parts implicated are underarms/armpits (generally on women), facial hair (mostly for men), and for some, the pubic area. Underarm hairs could be shaved or waxed, or for long-lasting effects, could be removed with electrolysis hair removal. [For those who read the word electrolysis for the first time: Electrolysis is a method of hair removal wherein a very, very thin needle is inserted in a hair follicle to destroy the are responsible for hair regrowth]

The said techniques could also be utilized for facial hair removal but grooming on the pubic area has been rarely advised with hair electrolysis method for obviously, the area is a critical part to administer complicated procedures on.

One has a variety of choices to choose from when it comes to hair removal methods. You could shave it, wax it or whatever. There are countless ways but the closest to long-lasting hair removal solution is electrolysis. One could purchase home electrolysis kits, but I strongly advise against it. You see, despite the cheaper costs of doing it yourself, having to pay a relatively expensive fee to a professional electrologist, is by far, much more worth it than doing the procedure wrong, causing possible long-term damage to your skin. I don’t know, it’s your call but based from several articles I’ve read on do-it-yourself electrolysis (see, it even sound downright weird…), it is just not right to do that by yourself. Some people don’t even know what a hair follicle means! How else would they carry out something as highly crucial technique as electrolysis, right?

So whether you are up for a hairless self whether it’s for grooming or for aesthetic purposes, I really don’t care. Just make sure that you do thing properly and you don’t hurt yourself! Good luck on your pursuit for a hairless smooth skin friend.

B Vitamin Hype: With Ambitions of Fighting Acne, Rosacea and Tumors, What Can This Vitamin Really Do

Vitamin B is no small time player in the high stakes game of the beauty. Just take the case of pellagra for example. Pellagra is a life threatening skin disease characterized by dementia, diarrhea, and dermatitis that results from a niacin (B vitamin) deficiency. In the early 20th century in the United States pellagra plagued thousands of people in the South and Midwest. The condition was thought to be contagious until investigators discovered the underlying nutritional deficiency.

Even today, the importance of vitamin B is cultivating new roles in the world of beauty. Dermatologist Leslie Baumann, MD forecasts topical vitamin B and its multiple derivatives as key ingredients in future anti-aging products. For example, one derivative of the B vitamin niacin, nicotinamide, has been shown to improve the ability of the epidermis, the upper-most layer of the skin, to retain moisture. One study reports that topical nicotinamide, when applied to the skin for six days reveals softer, smoother skin with less dryness and flakiness, and a reduction of fine lines. Even more promising is its anti-cancer influences. For instance, when applied to mouse skin, topical nicotinamide produced a 70 percent decrease in ultraviolet-induced skin cancer.

Niacinamide, another byproduct of vitamin B, serves as an effective skin-lightening agent. In one clinical investigation, patients with hyperpigmentation applied a moisturizer containing five percent niacinamide. Four weeks later, computer analysis of the hyperpigmentation and skin color revealed a decrease in hyperpigmentation along with an increase in skin lightness. Topical niacinamide also exhibits anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it a potential treatment for acne, rosacea and any blistering-type disease.

Dermatologist Zoe Diana Draelos, MD, clinical associate professor of dermatology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, N.C. is confident that praise for the therapeutic effects of niacinamide will continue to rise. Dr. Draelos hails, “Already, topical 4% niacinamide has been shown to be beneficial in the treatment of papular and pustular acne in a 4% gel, as well as the improvement of skin cancer and its anti-tumor characteristics”.

Dr. Baumann cautions that the many versions of one vitamin can be confusing and recommends speaking with your dermatologist to ensure you are selecting the right vitamin product for your skin care needs.

While it’s comforting to place a host of cosmetic aspirations in the latest beauty craze, Mother Nature’s wisdom will never lead you astray. If you can’t wait to get the benefits of B vitamins in your beauty cream, just go to your local market and help yourself to some chicken, tuna, potatoes, spinach, asparagus, black beans and watermelon. These are just of few of the foods providing bountiful servings of vitamin B. Remember, these scores of medical insights and promises started with a nutritional deficiency.

Eyelash Extensions? Are They Worth the Cost?

As we watch famous celebrities such as Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and others walk down the red carpet, we can’t help but see they have the most amazing eyes. They have long, lush lashes we can’t help but want for ourselves.

For those with money the cost isn’t a problem, for those of us with a budget, getting eyelash extensions may not be cost effective to have the look and keep it maintain. For example the most beautiful Beyonce has a new full set at $500 every three months but they are costing her $120 per month upkeep. Lose one eyelash and that’s $20 all by its self. Yes, that’s the truth per eyelash can run you about $20.00 each.

What is it about eyelash extensions that has them become one of the latest craze?

Unlike traditional false lashes that are applied in strips and last a day before needing to be removed, eyelash extensions are glued to your natural eyelashes and last as long as that eyelash does, 6 to 8 weeks depending on care. Eyelash extensions are applied with an adhesive that dries soft allowing lashes to stay flexible and natural looking. Because they are bonded to each individual lash and not your skin, eyelash extensions can last up to two months. They fall out when your natural lash does.

To maintain the look, you need a touch up every two to three weeks to replace any eyelashes that have fallen out.

There are cases rare as it can be but true, that those that have worn extensions for so long period of time have become allergic to the glue that is used! This happen to a eyelash salon owner who is an professional at putting on and maintaining eyelash extensions.

The number one thing about eyelash extensions you must have it done by an professional or mistakes can happen and possible cause your lashes to fall out! Make sure the person going to do your eyelash extensions has an license to do so.

Are there other products out there that could possible give you the same look for less cost?

Yes there are two main products you can now buy that will help give you the look of eyelash extensions both under $25. Magic Lash is one product that can be found only on the web and Fiberwig that you can buy at your local Sephora. Both can give you the look of long lush lashes but you have to use them with your mascara. They only last a day and come off with your makeup remover at night. Under $25 a tube verses $300 and two hours plus of your time to put the first full set on, I will take Magic Lash any day!

There is no such thing as semi-permanent eyelashes, all types of eyelash extensions are called semi-permanent.

There is now a process now that you can have permanent eyelashes transplanted. It’s the same idea as if you are having hair replanted. The only permanent eyelashes are eyelash transplants which are performed under anesthetic by a doctor and will cost you approximately $5,000.

Eyelash extensions are something you really need to think about, the cost factor as well as time factor.

Just for starters it takes up to two hours to have a full set done. Also they must be kept up if you really want to really keep the look. There is things you must do to keep them looking good.

For everyday, it comes down to one real fact, can you afford them? Take time to do your research, check out the salons in your area, ask your friends who have had it done their thoughts about it. Check out the prices the salons in your area are asking, always ask if they have a license to do them. Start out with a list of questions you may have and when you find someone you think you can trust, go in and check out their salon. If you are happy with what you see, and you have the money in your budget then go for it!. It’s your time and your money and your eyes, so have fun!
